I find this question to be against what I believe in most; Hard work always pays off. If I'm interested in something and very passionate about it, I always put my best effort into it until I master it and attempt to become the best at it. Writing is the same principle, the more hard work and effort you put into your writing, the better and more fluid it will become. But what exactly is a better writer? Who decides the standords for which our writing is judged? Who's to tell me the work I put my heart and soul into isn't quite up to their expectations? To me, a "better writer" is just someone who shows the confidence they have in their work and isn't afraid of judgement. If I had to make a list of 6 of the key things you need to have to become a better writer, it would include these:
1.Hard Work ethic- for reasons i stated above
2.Perserverance- how can you possibly get better at something if you keep giving up?
3.Patience- things don't always come as easy as you would like, but you need to stick with it
4.Confidence- show you have faith in your work in every sentence
5.Open mindedness- you should never be afraid to explore with your words and project different ideas
6.Ideals- write down your beliefs, and hold true to them throughout your piece
I truely believe if I follow these six principles I will continue to get better at writing. I will also use these to set a guideline for how to live my life.
